Speaker: Dr. Josh Kalman

Dr. Josh Kalman is a clinical psychologist and owner of Saint Joseph’s Psychological Services, LLC. He obtained his Master’s (M.S.) and doctoral degree (Psy.D.) from Divine Mercy University. His research focused on addressing male internet pornography addiction through the virtues of self-control and love. In his clinical work, Dr. Kalman combines his background in psychology with the teachings of the Catholic Church to help address the whole person. Dr. Kalman’s experiences range from working with adolescents in the Washington, DC court system to working in an Intensive Outpatient and Partial hospitalization program. He also has many years working in non-profits and private practice where his focus is on longer term therapy to address underlying causes of depression, anxiety, trauma, marital problems, and pornography addiction.

After the penitential rite, the Kyrie Eleison or “Lord, Have Mercy" may be sung as a dialogue between the cantor or choir and the people.

Part of the introductory rites since the fifth century, the Kyrie is meant to be an acclamation of praise.

Because of its nearness to the penitential rite and because its text is incorporated into the third form of the penitential rite, we are given to erroneously thinking of it as penitential also.

Though several liturgical texts entered the Roman church from the East at about the same time, the Kyrie is notable in that it retained its Greek language.

Parte de los ritos introductorios desde el siglo V, el Kyrie pretende ser una aclamación de alabanza.

Debido a su proximidad con el rito penitencial y a que su texto se incorpora a la tercera forma del rito penitencial, se tiende a pensar erróneamente que también es penitencial.
